Greetings to all as we reach the end of the second month of this year. I am sure that the older we get the faster time goes, however, if one actually thinks about it, what it really means is that we are getting slower!!

December turned out to be a little different with the loss of my brother-in-law as well as a sister-in-law, both of whom will be missed.

Christmas was great with Christmas day lunch with a group of friends and then on Boxing Day another great party with the family and friends.

January was just the usual with nothing really to talk about, with the exception of a load shedding weekend – the first load shedding in 10 months – this took us all by surprise. Now they have done it again, the third weekend in February we have again been hit with load shedding. To be very honest I am not sure where the blame lies, is it bad management, lack of maintenance or just lazy employees? I am sure that we all have our own connotations as to what the answer is.

Our weather has been the usual for this time of the year with days reaching the mid to high 30’s. To add to it we have had some very strong winds as usual coming from the southeast. It always reminds me of the days we used to cycle for the fun of it, battling into the wind and then sailing home with a tailwind.

So far this year have been on a couple of photoshoots, one was at our local motor racing circuit, another at a classic car and motorcycle show and a visit to a excellent Estate called Vergelegen which is just outside of Cape Town. Along with playing lawn bowls (weather permitting) so as we say life goes on.

For the rest of the year things are coming into place, April sees a Photographic Club weekend in Pringle Bay, June looks like a week in the Kruger Park and August will be the National Photographic Congress in Struisbaai. So has I have said before “Watch this space”.
