Photography Update May 2026

Thanks to the Cape Town Photographic Society I have had a relatively busy few months with my photography.

Firstly, I did an eight-week course – spread over 3 months – on Photoshop wow! It was amazing that having used the programme for a number of years I learnt so much from the course and it has definitely improved my editing technics so a big thank you to both the Society for recommending the course and to Martin Dudley Barber who ran the course. Martin also runs weekly photographic courses and Istanbul has been the center, so who knows maybe this will be my next adventure.

We also had a great weekend in Montagu organized by the club. They organized various shoots which included vintage cars and models in 1920’s attire. As well as a couple of great evening Braais which gave us the opportunity to mix with other club members. I have included a number of images in the photo section, so please let e know what you think.

I know that there are a number of events planned for the remainder of the year, so I am looking forward to them. `

Likewise, I have been doing reasonably well in our monthly club competitions some golds a couple of silvers and a bronze, with subjects varying from Birds to theatre shots. Great fun. On the not so good side I have entered a couple of National Salons and as to present have not done to well, as they say, ‘never give up!’ I let you know in the future.

On the Audio-Visual front, I have been attending zoom meetings with the Leeds AV Club. They are great and have been inspired to produce more Avs. For the record they attach an audience ranging from Canada, Ireland and South Africa as well as a good number of locals.

As I have previously said it’s great fun and helps to keep you busy.
