The Irish Connection

The Irish Connection

My great grandfather James McGinley was born 12th March 1841 in Ireland he married Letticia (nee Evans) They had 9 children one of them my grandfather James Robert Maginley born 12th December 1881 on the farm Rosdeun just outside of Mohill, County Leitrim Ireland

My grandfather came to England and married Blanch Elizabeth (nee Tanner). My grandfather was a constable in the British Police and they lived in Hounslow.  They had one son Raymond Robert James Maginley – my father. Born 23rd October 1912

My father married Violet Ethel Mary (nee Herbert) 16th April 1937   and I was born 8th September 1942

It was towards the end of the last century that the Internet started getting popular and with the event of Facebook things started to change.

If I recall it was Donna Maginley in Texas USA that initially started to find the Maginleys and then produced the family tree, which turn out to be a mammoth undertaking, with Maginleys showing up in all parts of the world, from Antigua to Canada to England to South Africa and of course Ireland.

It was then I found cousins in New Jersey, North Carolina and Mohill Ireland. Ruth  was the daughter of one of my grandfathers’ brothers, and through Ruth I meet up with Audrey (her Daughter) who lives in County Wicklow, and who as well has done a lot of work on our ancestry.

To both Donna and Audrey, a big round of thanks for all their hard work.

So that is the connections, thought it might be of interest to some of my friends.
