To me photography is what one sees through the eye piece of the camera, using the attributes of each individual camera to assist in producing an image that one is basically happy with.
Having said that it would appear today that one takes numerous shoots of the subject and then with the help of an editing programme endeavours to produce a perfect image. Of course, it does not stop there, backgrounds can be changed, features added and removed along with such adjustments to hue and saturation and of course making the image sharp and in focus. It goes without saying that in today’s competition world of salons, judges are looking for what is the most pleasing to the eye as well as the actual production of the image.
As far as I am concerned images presented for any type of competition should be what actually come out of the camera with the minimum of after processing.
I fully understand that there are numerous people that enjoy the creativity of producing interesting and artistic images, and along with today’s modern technology one can be as creative as one wishes.
I must admit that I do enjoy playing in Photoshop it tends to bring out the creativeness in one as well as one’s artistic side. With the introduction of Ai it really dose open up the playing field
