April Blog

Well April turned out to be an extraordinary month with many things happening.

Firstly, there was the 4 x 4 trip which was fantastic, it was great to get back to the real outdoors, no phone, no computers just a group of guys enjoying some of the great areas of South Africa. Our first three nights was camping in the true sense, no facilities, we survived, I slept in the tent on top of the Ford Ranger, we cooked on open fires and washed in the river. Our last night was at a organised camp site on the Namibian/South African Border over looking the Orange River, hot shower, electricity and a bar, what more could one ask for. For those of you that would like to see the countryside we visited check out this link on YouTube, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e2lJvrXCUlA

The other news is that I managed to blow up my gearbox in the Suzuki, so have been without transport for the last few weeks. The initial quote was for a new gearbox and the price was more than the car was worth!! With a bit of luck one of the guys on our 4 x 4 trip is a mechanic and through him have managed to set the repairs into operation so the say, all being well I should get the car up and running by the middle of May. Now comes the question do I keep the car or do I look for a replacement vehicle? I will let you know.

The Photographic Congress in Calitzdorp was really outstanding, you can read the write up by clicking here.

I would like to thank my friends that have been so helpful during the time I was without a vehicle,

A BIG THANK YOU

Well let’s see what the rest of the year produces, we have General Elections at the end of the month so who knows! ~!?

Best wishes to all
